Quality and Safety

Leadership’s Role in Quality and Safety

As one of the nation’s elite hospitals, we at Brigham and Women’s Hospital embrace our role as leaders in many areas of health care – including quality and safety initiatives.

Beginning in 2014, Brigham and Women’s Hospital has hosted an annual conference focusing on Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, and Performance Improvement. Clinicians and health care administrators attended from throughout the country and internationally. Attendees learned about quality, safety, and process improvement trends and how to effectively translate these concepts into daily practice.

This program highlighted Brigham and Women’s efforts to increase the value of care by reducing preventable patient harm, improving patient outcomes, and removing waste from the delivery system. Throughout the course, faculty highlighted specific projects and processes to help demonstrate successful approaches that are measurable and sustainable.

Our upcoming “2021 Healthcare Quality & Safety Conference” will be held virtually this year on Thursday, October 28th, and Friday, October 29th, 2021. This program provides state-of-the-art strategies coupled with practical recommendations to effectively translate current quality and safety concepts, standards, and mandates into daily practice.
