The Center for Pain Medicine brings together experienced, internationally recognized clinicians from many disciplines and award-winning basic scientists and pain researchers, all of whom are faculty members at Harvard Medical School. We employ an interdisciplinary team approach that provides comprehensive care to our patients and their families.
The clinicians of the Center for Pain Medicine care for both inpatients and outpatients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, providing patient-centered care for a wide range of acute and chronic pain conditions.
Because of the excellence of our staff, we can offer the best care possible to relieve pain and help find answers for patients that will reduce the severity of their pain and improve their quality of life.
In 2016, Christopher Gilligan, MD, MBA, was appointed Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine. Under his leadership, the Center for Pain Medicine focused the practice to optimize the patient experience across all our locations.
Locations and Providers
Our staff is comprised of physicians who are board-certified in pain medicine, and many are double or triple board-certified in specialties, such as anesthesiology, psychiatry, neurology, emergency medicine, addiction medicine, and palliative care. Many of our pain experts have also conducted clinical and basic research in diverse disciplines that include novel pharmaceuticals, neuromodulation, cognitive behavioral therapy, regenerative medicine, and nanotechnology.
