The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) was developed in 2018 to address and advance the growing number of EM faculty seeking academic promotion. The OAA provides sessions on professional development and oversees faculty mentorship, CV preparation, and management of the complex promotional process at Harvard Medical School. The OAA consolidated efforts in the department and now organizes and schedules the bi-weekly faculty development and skills sessions.
The DEM co-hosts, with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard College, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, a cross-university interfaculty center that advances the science of humanitarian assistance in war and crisis globally.
