Anesthesiology at Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center (20 Patriot Place, Foxborough)

The Anesthesia staff at Foxborough is composed of members from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine Departments. As such, they are required to maintain the educational and training standards of the main hospital. Working in teams of staff physicians and nurse anesthetists, the staff is prepared to handle a wide variety of patient health issues and procedures.

The outpatient environment in Foxborough provides some unique challenges when in comes to anesthetic care. Since patients are expected to return home at the end of their visit, particular attention must be given to issues revolving around patient comfort and safety. To satisfy these goals, the staff emphasizes the following:

  • preoperative medical screening via telephone to minimize patient and family inconvenience
  • a strong program of regional anesthesia pain blocks to permit the patients to feel comfortable and alert when leaving the facility
  • consistent prevention of some of the more unpleasant side effects associated with surgery and anesthesia, including excessive sleepiness and nausea/vomiting

Our record of safety and patient satisfaction is unparalleled. Our patients and their families are able to experience a visit to our Day Surgery Unit with confidence in the quality of care they receive and with a minimum of inconvenience and discomfort.
