The Challenge
Faced with tremendous complexity in health care, we must constantly strive to improve our existing processes. And, to facilitate this improvement, we need to train our staff to lead process improvement efforts across our organization.
Our Solution
The Mass General Brigham Clinical Process Improvement Leadership Program (CPIP) was launched across Mass General Brigham in 2010 with the purpose of engaging clinical teams in the use of process improvement tools to reduce variation in care and improve outcomes for patients. Modeled after the Advanced Training Program created by Brent James at Intermountain Healthcare, CPIP is a fast-paced, immersion program that gives participants from across the Mass General Brigham network the tools they need to evaluate and improve processes, within the span of four months. CPIP-Longwood is a Longwood Medical Area-based version of the course that began in the fall of 2013.
Results to Date
Over 240 participants from BWH and BWFH have participated in CPIP since it was launched in 2010.
