Academic Partnerships – Department of Nursing

Taking their professional responsibility for lifelong learning seriously, many BWH nurses are enrolled in a number of academic nursing programs in a variety of colleges and universities. Nurses are encouraged to choose programs and schools that best suit their clinical interests and accommodate their personal, professional and financial circumstances.

In 2009, in support for those desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or other advanced nursing degree while continuing to work as a BWH nurse, the Department of Nursing established academic partnerships with two local colleges. Nurses enrolled in both programs have been immensely successful.

Emmanuel College and Regis College offer degree programs for which onsite courses are conveniently conducted at BWH by Emmanuel and Regis professors; both colleges offer a direct tuition payment program that allows nurses’ hospital-provided professional development funds to be paid directly to the colleges; and both schools design their programs with working adult learners in mind.

More information on each of these programs can be obtained from the graduate studies offices of Emmanuel and Regis Colleges.
