Diversity and Inclusivity – Department of Nursing

The Department of Nursing and Patient Care Services is on a journey to co-create an inclusive culture for our patients and their families, and for our colleagues. Our Committee on Diversity and Inclusivity helps us stay true to our goal of ensuring that BWH is a place where all patients, families and staff feel welcomed and cared for. Through our work, we have learned that inclusion is about feeling respected and valued for who you are and that the goal is to find ways to honor and celebrate each individual.

The BWH patient population reflects the rich cultural diversity of our urban community. Our goal of inclusive care to our multicultural patient populations is supported through advancing our diverse workforce, which reflects the communities that we serve.

We seek to create a safe space for dialogue and ideas that can begin to change, where needed, our interactions and behavior in our day-to-day interactions with one another and with our patients. It is one more positive step toward co-creating a caring and inclusive environment.
