Magnet Designation

Brigham and Women’s Hospital received Magnet Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, in May 2018. Nine percent of hospitals in the nation have achieved this prestigious designation, which honors organizations for nursing excellence and providing outstanding patient care.

Studies have shown that Magnet hospitals are associated with lower 30-day mortality rates, as well as higher patient satisfaction and better outcomes on quality measures related to nursing, including lower rates of patient falls. For these reasons, Magnet designation is especially meaningful to those who are choosing a hospital for themselves or their loved ones to receive care.

Magnet recognizes the contributions of all Brigham and Women’s valued employees to the hospital’s mission of patient care, research, education and service to our local and global communities. It takes each role and department to deliver the world-class care and exceptional experience for which we are known.
