Mairead Hickey Nurse Fellowship in Nursing Leadership

Established by BWHC President Betsy Nabel, MD, this tribute honors Mairead Hickey, PhD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, former chief nursing officer and chief operating officer, who retired in 2014 after more than 30 years of dedicated leadership and service to BWH. This fellowship will support the development of BWH nurse leaders who will be uniquely positioned to guide and nurture a new generation of patient caregivers.

The Mairead Hickey Nurse Fellowship in Nursing Leadership provides 16 hours a week of training over six months to BWH nurses in a mentored training program for mid- and senior-level nurse leaders. Fellows will work closely with senior nursing leaders to collaborate on administrative projects, participate in meetings, and fine-tune critical thinking skills.

The fellowship program will support and sustain our department’s unwavering commitment to providing the highest-quality preparation for our clinical leaders who lead nursing practice alongside our front-line patient caregivers each and every day. It will also serve as a fitting and enduring testimonial to Dr. Hickey’s singular contribution to the department’s vision and legacy of nursing and patient- and family-centered care.

Nadia Raymond, MSN, MHA, RN, a nurse in the ICU Float Pool, has been selected as the 2016 Mairead Hickey Nurse Fellow.
