Brigham and Women’s Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD) Center

The Brigham and Women’s Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD) Center is a research and patient-care group that is focused on discovering new treatments for the disease, understanding how aspirin desensitization works, and investigating the underlying causes of AERD. Our multidisciplinary team is made up of allergists, ENT surgeons, and research scientists who work towards the common goal of understanding and managing AERD.

How We Can Help

• Evaluation and diagnosis of AERD, nasal polyps and other allergic diseases
• Aspirin Desensitization. This can be done as in an outpatient in clinic, as an inpatient if required, or as part of a clinical trial.
• Participation in clinical trials for AERD and nasal polyps.
• Adjunctive therapies for AERD, including dietary modifications.
• Next generation treatment with biologics. Our physicians follow the most up-to-date research on the emerging field of biologics for AERD, severe asthma, and nasal polyps.
• Referral services to ENT specialists with extensive experience with surgical treatment of AERD patients.

  • We diagnose and treat hundreds of patients per year and our allergists have performed more than 300 aspirin desensitizations over the past 5 years.
  • We actively follow over 1600 patients with AERD and are engaged in clinical research through our AERD Patient Registry. As a patient with AERD, you can enroll online in our registry here.

This is the first step to scheduling an appointment. New patients should call a patient coordinator directly at 855-278-8009 to request an appointment. Our scheduling coordinators provide personalized service in English or Spanish.
