Ron Blankstein, MD, and Justina Wu, MD, are the co-directors for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) offers one of the few multidisciplinary cardiovascular imaging programs in the country. The program combines clinical care, teaching, and research across multiple disciplines--cardiology, radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, molecular biology, and medical physics. Learn more about cardiovascular imaging at BWH.

The cardiovascular imaging (CVI) training program offers several fellowship opportunities in advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging. The goal of the program is to train future leaders in the field of multimodality cardiovascular imaging. Our unique multidisciplinary program trains cardiologists and radiologists across all cardiovascular imaging modalities, including echocardiography, nuclear cardiology (SPECT and PET), cardiac computed tomography (CCT), cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) and vascular CT/MRI imaging.

Quick Facts

  • Two-year clinical track for cardiologists
  • One-year clinical track for radiologists, which has a greater focus on vascular CT and MRI
  • Two-year research track for selected individuals who are committed to a research career, which is an NIH-funded training program
  • Application deadline is August 15th

Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship Topics

Program Objectives

We train future leaders in the field of multimodality cardiovascular imaging. Our trainees not only gain advanced expertise across various imaging techniques, but also master the skill of integrating this knowledge to deliver integrated patient-centered imaging.

Curriculum

The integrated curriculum includes multiple weekly conferences including the BWH Imaging Rounds, CMR and nuclear physics courses, monthly multimodality case-based conferences, CMR and CT case conferences, echocardiography conference, and journal club.   There are also multiple research seminars. Our staff and fellows lead or contribute to cardiovascular division and radiology department activities on a regular basis.

Teaching Facilities

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is a scientific, clinical, and academic powerhouse with a long history of firsts. We foster a shared commitment to predict, prevent, and treat the world’s toughest diseases. Our collaborations are changing the future of medicine, in Boston and beyond.

Our culture in providing excellence in patient care, teaching, and research affords an exceptional environment for clinical training and participation in exciting advances in basic and clinical research.

Committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of leaders in medicine, our faculty is comprised of experienced clinicians who impart a breadth of knowledge and expertise during clinical rounds and in clinics. In addition, basic and clinical research mentors provide many research opportunities for residents and fellows.

Research Opportunities

For applicants committed to a research career, we offer a two-year research track. This is an NIH-funded training program.
