Liver Cancer
In collaboration with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, our multidisciplinary Liver Tumor Program offers compassionate, cutting-edge treatment for patients with benign and malignant tumors of the liver. Our team of liver specialists (Hepatologists), cancer specialists (Oncologists), Hepatobiliary surgeons, Radiation specialists, and Interventional Radiologists closely collaborate to provide compassionate and effective care through the development of an individual treatment plan for each of our patients.
Esophageal and Gastric Varices, Bile Duct Disorders
Our expert physicians employ state-of-the-art endoscopic interventions to prevent and control bleeding from enlarged vessels (varices) in the gastrointestinal tract that occur as a consequence of underlying liver disease. Our therapeutic endoscopists also are skilled at diagnosing and alleviating obstruction of bile ducts that drain from the liver.
Liver Transplantation
Our physicians are members of the faculty of several regional transplant centers, allowing us to identify and facilitate care at the most appropriate program for each individual patient.
Fibroscan
Rapid and simple non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis (scar tissue) and liver steatosis (fat content) is available to all our patients.
Interventional Radiology
The Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital employs the latest imaging technologies and offers a range of procedures, including:
- Image-guided liver biopsy
- Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (TIPS)
- Paracentesis (removal of abdominal fluid)
- Vascular pressure measurements and stenting
Center for Weight Management and Wellness
The Center for Weight Management and Wellness offers a wide spectrum of nutritional, endoscopic and surgical options for the management of obesity and its complications, including fatty liver (e.g., NASH, NAFL).
