Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy Services

Endoscopic services include interventional management of upper and lower GI bleeding, benign and malignant pancreatic and biliary disease, portal hypertension, and benign and malignant esophageal disease. Advanced endoscopic techniques include diagnosis and palliation of tumors (e.g., colon cancer), evaluation of tumors with endoscopic ultrasound, and treatment of tumors with laser photocoagulation. A GI physiology center provides esophageal, pancreatobiliary and anorectal motility, 24-hour esophageal pH, and tests of intestinal absorption, gastric and pancreatic function. An integrated approach is coordinated with the Departments of Surgery and Radiology.
