About the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care

Primary care physicians in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Primary Care provide personalized outpatient services, from annual physical exams to the management of complex medical conditions. Our primary care physicians are board certified in internal medicine. Many physicians have additional training in specialty areas such as rheumatology, pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, geriatrics and women’s health.

Our 17 primary care locations in Boston and surrounding communities offer comprehensive, world-class care to a large and diverse group of patients. Primary care physicians coordinate specialized care for patients, managing referrals and communicating with specialists throughout BWH.

Patients admitted to the hospital are often under the care of a hospitalist. At BWH, hospitalists are internal medicine physicians with additional subspecialty training. They care for inpatients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. They manage patient care and communicate with primary care physicians, specialists and families.

Physicians in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Primary Care serve as faculty members of Harvard Medical School and are committed to teaching and research.
