Racial Justice and Health Equity Training

The Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center provides health equity/racial justice trainings and consultancy within the health center and BWH and in the Boston Community.

Health Equity and the Impact of Racism on Health

This is a two hour training that uses two data sets; asthma hospitalizations for children under the age of 5 in Boston, and infant mortality in the U.S. Data is used to help participants understanding the social determinants of health, health inequity and how systemic racism leads to inequitable health outcomes. Trainings offered the 1st Friday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Health Promotion Center located at 10B Green Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. Please RSVP to Abigail Ortiz at aortiz3@bwh.harvard.edu.

Racial Justice Framing

This training was designed to follow the Health Equity session and is also two hours. This training provides an overview of the core elements needed when framing public health issues with a racial justice lens and gives participants the opportunity to practice with a variety of examples.
