Division of Infectious Diseases Travel Clinic

Americans often travel to destinations that present health risks not found at home. If you are visiting another country, it is important to protect yourself against conditions like yellow fever, malaria and traveler's diarrhea.

The Division of Infectious Diseases Travel Clinic is here to help you have a safer, healthier trip abroad. Our team offers pre-travel immunizations, vaccines and medications to prevent disease. We also consult on:

  • Precautions to take when visiting certain countries
  • Health insurance, jet lag, medication schedule and other common travel-related issues
  • The concerns of travelers who are pregnant, are immunocompromised or have an underlying medical condition
  • Managing environmental risks, including during high-altitude travel
  • COVID-related concerns

In addition, we provide post-travel evaluation and treatment for people who develop symptoms or are diagnosed with an illness while they are away or soon after they return.

Charges and Insurance Information

Appointment charges include professional fees (for physician consultation) and may include immunization charges. The fee for each immunization can range from $20 to over $500, depending on which are required for your itinerary. Payment for all services is due at the time of your appointment.

Since these are preventive services, many health insurance plans do not cover the costs. We provide receipts to support claim reimbursement from a third party such as your insurance company. However, we strongly recommend checking with your insurance company prior to your appointment to confirm your plan covers travel medicine.
