The Family Planning Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is staffed by Family Planning specialists and offers uterine evacuation for first and second trimester induced or spontaneous abortion in an outpatient setting. We also provide IUD insertions and removals for patients who require sedation and/or ultrasound guidance.
Our services include:
- Medication abortion and medical management of early pregnancy loss (with mifepristone and misoprostol)
- First trimester vacuum aspiration
- Second trimester dilation and evacuation
- Complex IUD removals and insertions
All procedural sessions are staffed with an attending anesthesiologist. Ultrasound is used routinely. At the time of uterine evacuation, we provide access to all reversible methods of contraception.
