Our Division's Mission

In our quest for equity and innovation, our doctors provide their time and resources to our local communities and beyond. Our mission is to train providers who will develop expertise and contribute to advancements in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Researchers in our department are involved in numerous research projects aimed at improving gynecologic care for our patients. Our physicians and scientists investigate a wide variety of gynecological conditions to examine risks, treatments and outcomes associated with these disorders. This allows us to improve diagnosis and treatment methods for our patients.

From advocacy work within the United Nations focused on female genital cutting (FGC), to collaborative care with physicians from Senegal to Haiti, we constantly seek to provide optimal care to our patients locally and globally. As one of the leading divisions that spearheads work in Global Women’s Health, we also house one of the few Fellowship Training Program in Global Women’s Health in obstetrics and gynecology.

Promoting Health Equity

Our division adapts to continuously promote and provide health equity through these efforts:

  • Members of The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO)
  • Collaboration with Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Improvement Network of Massachusetts (PINQIN)
  • Conferencing and lecturing at Harvard Medical School and around the world
  • Group prenatal care (GPC) and Postpartum Connected
  • Partnering with doula workers through the United Against Racism Grant
  • Continuously contributing to new research in the field of women's health
  • We collaborate with 10 community health centers in Boston, providing expert care to women in their home communities
