Brigham and Women’s Obstetrics Practices

Our practice provides obstetrics and gynecology care at our main campus on the 3rd floor of the Connor's Center for Women and Newborns (CWN). Brigham and Women's Hospital is a teaching hospital where we provide team-based care including medical students, resident physicians, fellows, certified nurse midwives, physician assistants, nurses caring for women under the supervision of attending physicians. Our team's core values are rooted in the promotion of health equity, and we are committed to care for culturally and socio-economically diverse populations. Through multidisciplinary partnerships, we provide comprehensive prenatal care and support to pregnant individuals throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.

In addition to traditional prenatal care, our practice provides a variety of specialized services to our patients:

  • Complex Pregnancy Conditions: Our resident and attending physicians can also manage certain complicating conditions of pregnancy including dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancy, hypertension in pregnancy, short cervix, intrauterine growth restriction, complex surgical history, abnormal placentation, and gestational diabetes. We also offer consultation in regards to cesarean section or TOLAC (trial of labor after cesarean).
  • African Women's Health Center: Found in 1999 by Dr. Nawal Nour, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, the Center provides obstetric and gynecologic care to patients who have undergone female genital cutting or mutilation. Susanna Pan, RN works closely with Dr. Nour and her patients to provide the support needed.
  • Infectious Disease and Pregnancy: Dr. Khady Diouf, Director of Brigham and Women's Obstetrics and Gynecology Practices, is an expert on infectious diseases. In her practice, she cares for women with pregnancies complicated by various infectious diseases with the assistance of Amy Montero, RN.
  • Bi-lingual Care: Dr Julianna Schantz-Dunn, Medical Director of Brigham and Women’s Obstetrics practices, is fluent in Spanish and cares for Latinx pregnant women. Arlene Buck, RN, assists Dr. Schantz-Dunn in caring for this population. Additionally, our clinic staff includes individuals fluent in Arabic, French, Portuguese, Wolof, Mandarin, Cantonese, Amharic, Tigrigna, and Cape Verdean Creole.
  • Group Prenatal Care: This program provides an enhanced prenatal care experience to groups of six to eight women, providing pregnancy education and peer support in addition to routine prenatal care. Groups are currently offered in Spanish and English.
  • Adolescent Midwifery Practice: Certified nurse midwives provide obstetric care to pregnant adolescents and young adults under the age of 21.
