Maternal-Fetal Medicine Inpatient Transfer Services

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Transfer Program is designed to accommodate all the medical and social support needs for women with high-risk pregnancies (and their families) who require evaluation or hospitalization at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Physicians, midwives, and nurses from more than 40 hospitals in New England refer approximately patients for hospitalization before or after delivery. We are a resource for any and all medical problems associated with pregnancy.

Inpatient transfer services are handled by Mass General Brigham MDConnect. MDConnect is a joint program between Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, serving as a community physician's direct link to the transfer and transport services of these hospitals. With one call, MDConnect will coordinate timely communication between referring and receiving physicians, locate inpatient beds, and arrange transport. Ground-based, mobile ICUs, staffed with specially trained nurses and paramedics, are also available through this service. To reach MDConnect call (877) 637-3337.
