Lactation Resources

  • Brigham Center for Breastfeeding, Outpatient Lactation Program: provides individualized, one-on-one virtual and in-person consultations with a registered nurse/IBCLC lactation consultant. Call 617-308-1536.
  • Baby Café USA: offers free resources for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Baby Cafés are located in about a dozen Eastern Massachusetts locations, including Jamaica Plain, Boston Medical Center and Codman Square in Dorchester.
  • Birthing Gently: a practice that includes a Certified Lactation Counselor on staff to provide lactation support.
  • Boston Area Childbirth Education and Nursing Mother's Council: provides education, emotional support, community services and advocacy around pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and parenting. Call 617-244-5102.
  • Boston Breastfeeding Coalition Support Group Calendar: a listing of support groups that meet locally.
  • Boston Breastfeeding Support Warmlines: a resource staffed by lactation peer counselors, Certified Lactation Counselors and IBCLC lactation consultants seven days a week. Call 857-301-8259 or email breastfeedingboston@gmail.com.
  • Droplet: offers guidance, including videos, on how to begin breastfeeding within the critical first hour after delivery.
  • First Latch & Counseling: a lactation and counseling practice that promotes the health and happiness of children and families.
  • KellyMom.com: a website providing evidence-based information on breastfeeding and parenting.
  • La Leche League International: an organization whose mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
  • Mass Breastfeeding Coalition: dedicated to improving infant and maternal health and well-being through education, outreach and advocacy to promote and support breastfeeding.
  • Mothers' Milk Bank Northeast: a nonprofit milk bank providing pasteurized donor human milk to fragile babies throughout the Northeast.
  • Stanford University Newborn Nursery: a listing of breastfeeding resources, including videos.
  • Vital Village: a network of residents and organizations committed to maximizing child, family and community well-being.
  • ZipMilk.org: a website with listings for breastfeeding resources searchable by zip code.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Resources

  • Graham's Foundation: serving families with preemies during the NICU stay and the transition to home.
  • Hand to Hold: serving families with premature babies during the NICU stay and the transition to home.
  • Peek a Boo ICU: offering education on preemie developing and parenting in the ICU.

Overnight Care and Other Postpartum Resources

  • Birthing Gently: provides postpartum care and support in the home to families to help ease and enhance the postpartum experience.
  • Boston Baby Nurse & Nanny: a newborn care and nanny placement agency serving Greater Boston.
  • Boston NAPS: offers classes and overnight care, in-home consultations, care during the day and more.
  • Night Owl Nurses: provides newborn care in Greater Boston.
  • Nightingale Night Nurses: offers overnight newborn care, 24-hour care, high-needs medical care and support to help parents get a full night's sleep.
  • The Baby Mavens: provides postpartum doula, newborn care, sibling support and baby concierge services in Boston and the North Shore.
  • The Bluebirds: provides overnight care, doulas, homestays, travel, nanny training, parent/infant classes and more.
