About the Orthopaedic Trauma Service

The Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is an accredited Level 1 Center for adult trauma, offering the highest level of trauma care available, with 24-hour, state-of-the-art care for all orthopaedic-trauma-related emergencies. We provide life-saving surgery and critical care for injuries to bones, joints, the spine and soft tissues following motor vehicle and work-related accidents as well as serious falls.

Our orthopaedic trauma team is staffed by doctors who specialize in injury management and are highly skilled in treating the most severe fractures. The team includes board-certified orthopaedic surgeons with fellowship training in trauma and adult spine surgery. They collaborate with multidisciplinary subspecialists throughout BWH to ensure optimal treatment for patients with multiple medical concerns.

As part of the Harvard Medical School Orthopaedic Trauma Initiative, a collaborative venture between Harvard-affiliated teaching hospitals, we advance the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Our clinical research team within the Orthopaedic Trauma Initiative investigates orthopaedic injuries and treatment methods. We train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons through the Harvard Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship.
