International Mesothelioma Program (IMP) Orientation

This group is an educational orientation program for people newly diagnosed with Mesothelioma. People newly diagnosed and their loved ones are presented with information about mesothelioma from multidisciplinary team members including, doctors, nurses, researchers, social workers, and patient navigators. Contact: Beth Flanzbaum, LICSW at 617-525-3020. Meeting times vary. Patients and their families are scheduled for orientation immediately after their first appointment with the medical team.

Living with Mesothelioma Virtual and/or Live Support Group Meetings

These meetings occur throughout the year and are focused on providing emotional support and information on a variety of topics to people who are living with mesothelioma and their loved ones. Lung Transplant Support Group

It is an ongoing drop-in group for patients and families or other caregivers of patients who are being evaluated, are listed, or have been transplanted at BWH. The group can be an invaluable source of information and support. Each month, various members of the transplant community provide education and lead discussion about different topics related to the lung transplant progress. We meet virtually on the first Wednesday of every month, from 2-3pm. Mesothelioma Support Group for Caregivers

Group is co-led by the departments of Social Work and Chaplaincy. Enrollment is limited to caregivers of people who are currently in the hospital for treatment of mesothelioma. Participants are encouraged to discuss the impact of mesothelioma on them and their loved ones and are encouraged to practice self-care. Contact: Beth Flanzbaum, LICSW at 617-525-3020 for additional information. Meetings: Wednesdays occur from 12-1:00 pm in the Multipurpose Room on the 11th floor of the Braunwald Tower. Lunch is served.

Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplant Support Group

This is a support and educational group for caregivers of patients who are receiving in house hospital treatment. It is facilitated by social workers from the lung transplant and/or the thoracic surgery division. Contact Sarah Harre, LICSW at 617-525-8142 for additional information. The group meets on Tuesdays from 12 - 1pm in the Multipurpose Room on the 11th floor of the Braunwald Tower. Lunch is served.

Thornton House Support Group Breakfast

A weekly support group for people diagnosed with mesothelioma and their ones who are rooming at the Thornton House while undergoing treatment for mesothelioma. Meetings occur on Tuesdays from 8:30 am – 9:00 am. Contact Beth Flanzbaum, LICSW at 617-525-3020 for additional information.
