During Your Stay

Language Services

Our trained, certified medical interpreters will accompany you to all your appointments. More than just an interpreter, they are there to guide you during your time at the hospital, support you and ensure your needs are met. Your interpreter will also liaise with your patient program manager to ensure smooth, timely care. You will have the same interpreter throughout your stay whenever possible. If you have any virtual visits prior to your arrival at the hospital or through follow-up care, your interpreter will facilitate these clinical interactions.

Financial Arrangements

The International Patient Center has a dedicated finance team to support you and provide knowledgeable insight about the financial matters surrounding your care. The team will help answer and navigate any of your financial or insurance-related questions. The team coordinates with embassy health offices, insurers and individual patients around the world. Prior to your arrival, we will discuss your payment preferences with you. We can give you a detailed cost estimate upon request, and help you understand your financial responsibilities and options for billing arrangements. At the end of your stay in Boston, we will review your charges with you, discuss any additional pending charges, and answer your questions.

The most common ways to pay for services are:

  • Self pay: You will pay for your medical care yourself with a credit card, wire transfer, money order or other acceptable form of payment.
  • Insurance: If you have health insurance, it may pay for some or all of your medical care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
  • Embassy sponsorship: Your embassy will pay for your medical care.
