Inpatient Pharmacy

Brigham and Women's Hospital's inpatient pharmacy consists of approximately 300 staff members, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, pharmacy interns, and support staff. The main central pharmacy is staffed 24/7, providing drug preparation and procurement services for the entire campus.

Inpatient staff pharmacists are deployed across the institution to provide clinical pharmacy knowledge and experience to medical, surgical, ambulatory, ancillary support, and operational services. Pharmacists work directly as a member of the care team, optimizing drug therapy, providing medical education, and conducting research. On top of state licensure, most pharmacists have Doctorate degrees, have completed specialized residency training programs, and have obtained board certifications.
