How To Apply for CPE Residency

Stipend: 4-5 Positions at approximately $19,000 plus benefits.

Dates: Yearly from September - May, 36 hours per week.

Prerequisites: Masters of Divinity (or equivalent) and one unit of Level I CPE (must be completed at time of application for residency program).

Application Fee: $75 (Check to be made out to 'BWH Chaplaincy Fund.' Please enclose with application).


To Apply:

  1. Complete BWH CPE application (.pdf).
  2. Include 1 verbatim and final evaluation written by yourself and by your supervisor from previous unit(s) of CPE (or your mid-unit evaluation, if unit still in progress).
  3. Write two page statement of your theology of ministry.
  4. Write two page statement of what learning goals you would like to work on in a CPE residency in light of your previous CPE unit(s). This should include a statement of what talents and experience you think you would bring to a residency and how a CPE residency fits into your plans for future ministry.
  5. Please send the BWH CPE Reference forms (.pdf) to three people who can serve as references for you. References should be one academic, one denominational, and one personal. Completed reference forms should be sent directly to the BWH Spiritual Care Office at the address on the forms.
