Referring a Patient
The Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine cares for newborn infants in two hospital settings: Brigham and Women's Hospital and Newton-Wellesley Hospital. BWH is the largest delivering hospital, with roughly 6,000 births each year and services designed to provide specialized care to the most high-risk pregnancies. In addition, Brigham and Women's Hospital houses the region's largest newborn intensive care unit (NICU) with more than 60 beds for the smallest and sickest infants requiring care for preterm or any other complex birth-related issue.
Our Neonatal Transport Program, in collaboration with Boston MedFlight, provides rapid transfer of critically ill infants from community hospitals throughout New England to the Level III NICUs at Brigham and Women's Hospital or Mass General for Children.
