E-Visits and Virtual Visits in Primary Care

An e-visit is an online visit between a patient and provider about a specific symptom, performed through our patient portal via an online questionnaire. Patients fill out a brief questionnaire online which is delivered directly to their practice and incorporated into their medical record.

Providers send a message to or call the patient back within one day. If you are experiencing the following symptoms, you are able to complete an E-Visit in our Patient Gateway: Cough, Back Pain, Heartburn, Red Eye, Sinus Problems, Urinary Problems, Diarrhea, and Vaginal Irritation/Discharge. We are in the process of developing additional visit types.

Virtual visits allow our providers and patients to connect over a secure video platform. Brigham and Women's is offering virtual visits to make care more convenient, and to improve care by reducing barriers our patients face coming into the clinic. Patients who have access to a smart phone, tablet, or computer with a video camera are able to access the software used to conduct these visits. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact your provider to discuss the possibility of incorporating this type of visit into your care.
