The Fellowship in consultation-liaison at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School has been in existence for nearly 40 years, providing the highest quality education and training in the knowledge base and clinical practice of consultation-liaison psychiatry and training leaders in the field. The fellowship provides a strong learning environment with dedicated and knowledgeable faculty while simultaneously maintaining fellows’ individual autonomy in patient evaluation and management.
The Brigham and Women's Hospital Addiction Medicine Fellowship is a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program in addiction medicine, open to physicians who have completed any ACGME-accredited residency program. Our goal is to train the next generation of leaders in the prevention, diagnosis, assessment, treatment, and recovery of those individuals with substance use disorders and related medical and psychiatric co-morbidities. The program is designed to prepare fellows for a variety of academic and clinical opportunities related to substance use disorders. Fellows completing the fellowship will quality to sit for the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
Brigham and Women's Hospital is one of the core training sites for the one-year, full-time Mass General Brigham Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship, jointly offered by Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. All addiction psychiatry fellows rotate on the Brigham Medical Psychiatry Service to perform consultations to all medical and surgical units, as well as obstetrics, intensive care units and the Emergency Department. Fellows will enhance their skills to function effectively as expert addiction consultants in the medical setting.
The Mass General Brigham Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited fellowship which fulfills the specialized post-residency training requirement necessary for American Board of Psychology and Neurology (ABPN) certification in the subspecialty of geriatric psychiatry. One to two candidates are accepted into this program each year for one year of training. The Brigham is one of Mass General Brigham’s members participating in this fellowship.
The Psychiatry, Law and Society Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital joins with Massachusetts General Hospital to offer the Harvard Mass General Brigham Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship. This one-year, full-time ACGME-accredited training program offers a multifaceted approach designed to educate future leaders in the field of psychiatry and law in all areas of forensic psychiatric practice. Fellows will participate in supervised clinical opportunities at multiple institutions that provide experience in both civil and criminal matters and education in evaluations, report writing, consultation, court testimony, and correctional care.
The Center for Brain/Mind Medicine (CBMM) offers a fellowship program that provides intensive training in both classical and newly developing approaches to cognitive/behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry. Fellows learn how to comprehensively evaluate and treat patients with complex neurobehavioral problems associated with a range of disorders, including neuropsychological and biological aspects of dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease. Fellows are trained in neurobiological bases and treatment of cognitive, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric manifestations of neurodegenerative diseases, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, stroke, brain tumors, inflammatory and infectious diseases of central nervous system, developmental disorders, and traumatic brain injury.
Clinical experience in the joint Brigham and Mass General Neuropsychology Fellowship will consist of adult neurological cases, including dementia, epilepsy, brain tumor, developmental syndromes, neurobehavioral disorders, multiple sclerosis and other degenerative conditions. Fellows will receive training in both pediatric and adult cases. The clinical experience will be primarily outpatient based but will include some inpatient consultation. Specialized experience will be offered in the epilepsy surgery program, including Wada Tests and intraoperative cortical mapping.
The Women's Mental Health Fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital provides exciting subspecialty training opportunities for residents interested in the ways sex and gender can exert a major influence on the course, expression and treatment of psychiatric disorders. The purpose of the fellowship is to train expert clinicians in the psychiatric care of women, and in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric symptoms linked with female reproductive cycle transitions.
