Vascular and Vein Care Centers Compression Stockings

Compression stocking play an important part in the treatment of varicose veins. By applying the external compression of the compression stockings to the superficial veins, it prevents the blood from pooling in the leg veins. This in turn reduces or eliminates symptoms such as leg fatigue, pain, heaviness, and swelling. Wearing compression stockings will most likely only temporarily alleviate the symptoms, but will not cure the underlying problem.

Most insurance companies will require participation in a 'compression stocking trial period' before they will approve a treatment. This 'trial' length depends on your insurance company and specific plan. It can range from six weeks to six months. Regardless, if you are a candidate for a medical procedure, it is standard of care to wear the compression stockings after your procedure. Our board certified Brigham and Women's physician will write you a customized prescription for these stockings.

There are many local medical supply companies that can fill your prescription. In order to make this process as convenient as possible, we are happy to provide a list of businesses near your home. Please ask our front desk staff or contact us for additional information.

Depending on your insurance company, these may be covered at limited or no cost to you.
