The Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women's Hospital provides ambulatory and inpatient oral medicine services and dental care for medically complex patients.

Oral Medicine

We provide comprehensive evaluation and management of patients with oral medicine conditions including:

  • Mucosal diseases
  • Salivary gland disorders
  • Orofacial pain conditions
  • Chemosensory disorders
  • Oral complications of cancer therapies
  • Jaw osteonecrosis

Dental Services

We provide expert dental care for:

  • Medically complex patients who require care in a hospital setting including those who have low blood counts, bleeding disorders and coagulopathies or are severely immunocompromised
  • Cancer patients who require dental screening prior to:
    • Hematopoietic cell transplantation (bone marrow transplantation)
    • Radiation therapy for management of head and neck cancer
  • Patients requiring treatment under general anaesthesia
