Hand Rejuvenation

Our hands reflect our age as much as our faces. Through the aging process our hands lose firmness and plumpness and can appear bony and fragile with vein protrusion and thin crepe-like skin texture. Often our hands’ skin shows brown spots from sun exposure.

Today, there are options to give your hands a more youthful appearance. Using fillers such as Juvederm® or Restylane® our surgeons can re-plump and replenish the natural volume to the back of the hands to provide a more supple and youthful appearance. Longer lasting options include fat transfer to your hands. For sun-damaged skin, laser and other techniques can improve the surface of your skin and get rid of some of the brown-pigmentation and uneven texture of the skin.

Our plastic surgeons offer several options to improve the appearance of your hands. Conditions that can be treated include:

  • Loss of skin tone: Weakening of the supportive skin structure (collagen and elastin fibers) that results in a loss of skin firmness, or the development of cellulite
  • Pigmentation: Freckles, sun spots, melasma, or other darkened patches of skin result mainly from sun exposure
  • Scars: As the result of acne or injury to the skin, scars may be rolling (a wavy appearance to the skin), pitted, discolored, or have raised borders

Is This a Good Option For You?

Hand Rejuvenation may be a good option for you if:

  • You wish your hands to have a more youthful appearance
  • You are physically healthy
  • You do not smoke
  • You have a positive outlook and specific, but realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance
