Our Urology Team

Recognized experts in their field, the urologists at Brigham and Women’s Hospital perform thousands of urologic surgeries and procedures each year. The Brigham urology team also includes a core group of physician assistants, nurses and clinical staff, along with administrative coordinators who address appointment needs and billing concerns.

Led by Adam S. Kibel, MD, our urologic surgeons are faculty members of Harvard Medical School and are actively engaged in scientific research to improve the care of patients with urologic diseases. They represent the surgical oncology team for genitourinary cancers at Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center and mentor accomplished urology residents through the esteemed Harvard Urology Residency Program.

Laura Caplan graduated with a BA from NYU in 2005. She received her MS from Weill Cornell Medical College in 2012. Prior to joining the Brigham, she worked for NYC Private Practice Primary Care. Laura has worked for Brigham and Women's Faulkner Primary Care and Brigham and Women's Surgical Oncology. She joined the Brigham Urology team in September 2021.

Bethany Nelson graduated from Stony Brook University with her Master of Science in physician assistant studies in 2010. She joined Brigham Urology in January 2018. Prior to joining Brigham Urology, she worked in both urology and general surgery in Providence, RI. She works primarily in the inpatient setting.

Nurse Practitioner

Emily Tyler graduated from University of Massachusetts, Boston with a Master of Science in nursing in spring of 2016. She joined the Brigham Urology team in October 2019. Prior to this she was a registered nurse for nine years on an inpatient general surgery floor at the Brigham, followed by working as a stoma nurse practitioner in the Brigham Stoma Clinic.
