At Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we are committed to continuously improving our patients’ surgical experience. We offer the most advanced minimally invasive procedures, as well as the personal and compassionate approach that each patient deserves.
As a Brigham and Women’s Hospital surgical patient, you are not only benefiting from the knowledge of your individual surgeon, but of our entire team of surgeons, surgical nurses and other staff who strive for excellence. We pride ourselves in developing customized surgical pathways with YOU in mind. Our providers are pioneers in this multidisciplinary, collaborative approach that integrates new research and provides you with the most up-to-date care available. As a surgical patient here, you are benefiting from the Brigham Way—the dedication to always go above and beyond.
A great deal of thought and research has gone into the development of your surgical pathway—the journey that begins with the decision that a surgical treatment is needed and ends when you’ve made a full recovery. The pathway starts when your surgeon decides to schedule your surgery. You will be given educational materials at that time, which explain what to expect throughout your entire surgical experience. You will receive more information from our anesthesia teams at the Weiner Center for Preoperative Evaluation during your preoperative assessment. Once you’ve completed these visits, you’ll have all the information you need to prepare not only for the day of surgery, but also your overall recovery.
