James Bryant, JD, Vice President; Chief Compliance Officer

James Bryant, JD, Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer James Bryant, JD, is the Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) for Brigham and Women's Hospital. Bryant is responsible for the hospital’s overall regulatory and legal compliance, including day to day leadership of auditing, monitoring and regulatory education efforts.

Bryant works closely with general counsel to provide advice on legal and enforcement risks and risk mitigation strategies. Prior to joining BWH, he served as a regulator at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). At CMS he focused on helping providers understand the ever-changing Medicare regulations, and worked with them on reimbursements and fraud abuse. He also served as an associate regional administrator of CMS where he was cross-designated as a Special United States Attorney for Civil Healthcare Fraud cases for the United States Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts.

A graduate of Yale University and the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, Bryant has focused on health care law and enforcement while working in private practice in the Criminal Bureau of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and also as Director of Enforcement at the Massachusetts Board of Medicine.
