What is chest wall cancer?

Rare and difficult to treat, chest wall tumors occur in the bones, soft tissues and cartilage of the chest cavity—which contains vital organs such as the heart and lungs. Some of these complex tumors originate in the chest wall while others are have metastasized (cancer that has spread) from adjacent thoracic tumors. Chest wall cancer includes many types of soft tissue sarcomas, often characterized by difficulty breathing as well as chest pain and swelling.
