Referring a Cardiovascular Medicine Patient

To refer a patient to a Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) cardiologist, or to receive additional information about the Heart & Vascular Center, call the toll-free Physician Referral Service number:

  • 800-MD-TO-BWH / (800) 638-6294
  • You can also call the main Cardiovascular Medicine number: (857) 307-4000

These numbers are staffed 8am-5:30pm, Monday through Friday.

A trained coordinator will direct you to the physician with whom you wish to speak, as well as facilitate consultations and second opinions. After hours, you may leave a voicemail message. Your call will be returned promptly.

You can also use this secure form to request a new patient appointment with one of our physicians. Once the form is submitted, a trained coordinator will contact the patient to schedule an appointment. Referring physicians will be provided with the appointment details.

Lastly, with the newly-updated Physician Gateway, you can use this to make referrals for patients who have previously been seen at Mass General Brigham entities.

Inpatient Transfers

Through the Mass General Brigham Patient Transfer and Access Center (PTAC), providers can now request a transfer from their acute care hospital to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, or one of our acute care community hospitals—all with a single phone call.

Please call: 1-855-468-6642 (1-855 GO TO MGB)
