At the Forefront of Research
We have an impressive clinical and basic research program. Many of our clinical anesthesiologists, as well as a large contingent of basic scientists, address issues at the forefront of research areas, such as neural blockade in anesthesia, pain management, preemptive analgesia, and anesthetic and analgesic interactions during surgery and in the immediate postoperative period.
Active and well-funded research programs in the department focus on ischemia, reperfusion, coagulation, inflammation, myocardial muscle degeneration, periodontal disease and nerve regeneration, muscular dystrophy and spinal cord injury, tissue engineering, stem cell biology and tissue regeneration.
