Pulmonary Pathology

The Pulmonary Pathology Service of the Division of Surgical Pathology provides comprehensive diagnostic services relating to the pathology of neoplastic and non-neoplastic disorders of the lung and the mediastinum. In addition to evaluation by conventional histology, a variety of specialized immunohistochemical and molecular tests are routinely available. Electron microscopy services for both ultrastructural analyses as well as X-ray analyses of foreign materials in the lung and other tissues is also available. The Service provides diagnostic expertise for Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, including the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic, the Thoracic Surgery Division, and the Thoracic Oncology Program, and also reviews national and international consultations. Active educational initiatives include daily teaching of students, residents and fellows, along with programs for continuing medical education.
