Important Medicaid Redetermination Update
On April 1st, 2023, Medicaid (MassHealth in Massachusetts) returned to its normal annual renewal process. If Medicaid has enough information to confirm your eligibility, your coverage was renewed automatically. If Medicaid was not able to confirm your eligibility automatically, you will receive a renewal form in a colored envelope (blue in Massachusetts, yellow in New Hampshire) to the mailing address on file. If you receive any communication from Medicaid in the mail, do not ignore it, act now to avoid disruption or loss of coverage.
Please visit your state’s website to ensure Medicaid has your most current information.
Insurances Accepted
Brigham and Women's Hospital accepts most health insurance plans. Mass General Brigham maintains information about health insurance accepted at BWH and other hospitals within the Mass General Brigham system. Please visit their website for further information on insurance plans and products accepted at BWH.
Many insurance plans are now considered “tiered” plans, and have different levels of costs depending on where you go for care. It is important that you check with your own health insurance plan to see what level of coverage you will receive at a specific hospital. Even if you see your insurance plan listed, additional referrals or authorizations may be required. Some services may not be covered by your insurance coverage at every location. The level of coverage provided to you is determined by your insurer.
Also, many health insurance plans may use other companies to cover certain services such as behavioral health (mental health) or transplant related services. Please contact your health insurance plan or employer for your specific questions.
You should always check with your own health insurance plan before getting care to make sure you understand your covered benefits and costs.
