Project Milestone
Roxbury Tenants of Harvard and Brigham and Women’s Hospital are happy to announce that all of the approvals necessary to sign the 95 Year Ground Leases with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts have been received. The Ground Leases were signed on April 30, 2010, and will run until April 29, 2105!
As required by the terms of our agreement with the state, the first phase of this project will involve the demolition and environmental cleanup of the old Mass Mental campus, the construction of the Fenwood Inn on the site of the old ‘Nurses’ Quarters”, the Binney St Building next to the Servicenter Garage, and an interim use parking lot at 74 Fenwood Rd. across from the Shapiro Building. Phase 2 will be the construction of the RTH Residential Building near the Riverway, and Phase 3 will be the construction of the BWH Building on the site of the interim parking. Phase 2 and 3 site plan.
RTH and BWH would like to thank all of the many people who participated in the process to get this wonderful redevelopment underway. This redevelopment project will bring Mass Mental back to its historic home, provide additional affordable housing in the community, and allow for a collaborative, planned and controlled addition to the hospital.
