John A. Mannick Research Awards Honorees Recognized

Four residents and research fellows in the Department of Surgery were recognized for their work in basic science, clinical or outcomes research during the 23rd annual John A. Mannick Research Awards.

These awards were created in honor of John Mannick, MD, former BWH surgeon-in-chief, who is a leader in the field of vascular surgery research. These awards recognize surgery residents and research fellows for their work in basic science, clinical or outcomes research.  

The honorees and their abstracts are:

Marko Boskovski, MD, MHS, MPH: “De Novo Genetic Variants and Post-Operative Outcomes in Congenital Heart Disease.”

David Harris: “Sleeve Gastrectomy Restores Mucosal Immunity and Improves Metabolic Phenotype in a Weight-Independent Manner.”

Taufiek Konrad Rajab, MD, BChir: “Intralipid Improves Oxygenation After Rat Orthotopic Lung Transplantation.

Kaspar Trocha, MD: “Pre-Operative Short-Term Protein/Methionine Restriction Attenuates the Surgical Response to Injury via Hydrogen Sulfide Up-Regulation.”
