Carol Nadelson, MD
Dr. Nadelson has been Director of the Office for Women’s Careers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital since the office was established in 1998. A Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Nadelson is internationally recognized as an advocate for the career advancement of women faculty. In 1984, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) elected Dr. Carol Nadelson as its first woman president. She was Editor in Chief of American Psychiatric Press, Inc., from 1986 to 2001.
Among her many awards are the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Psychiatrists; the APA's Seymour Vestermark Award for psychiatric education; the Elizabeth Blackwell Award from the American Medical Women's Association for her contributions to women in medicine; the AAMC Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award and the Alexandra Symond’s award from APA for contributions to women’s mental health.
During her academic career, Dr Nadelson has been a frequent presenter at academic and clinical conferences throughout the world. She has written over 230 scientific publications and chapters, and co-edited over 40 books, and 18 tapes. She has presented over 1,000 talks nationally and internationally on topics including women’s health and mental heath, medical education, ethics, and women’s leadership and career development. She co-edited a landmark series of books, The Woman Patient, the first on this topic which was instrumental in starting the field of women’s mental health.

Deborah Fredberg, MBA

As Program Manager of the Office for Women's Careers, Deborah Fredberg manages the office's day to day operations and plans seminars, speakers and networking opportunities for faculty at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She is a former Assistant Director of Admissions at Harvard Business School, and has advised business school applicants with MBA Strategies for a number of years, providing one-on-one consulting services. Her undergraduate degree and MBA are from the School of Arts and Sciences, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her professional experience also includes consulting with Booz, Allen & Hamilton as well as brand management with The Gillette Company.

Sandra Gould, MA, MSM

Sandra Gould is senior staff, formerly Associate Director of the Office for Women’s Careers (OWC). She has been with Partners since 1997, and OWC since April 1998, a month after its inception. In her present capacity, Sandra creates two booklets of accomplishments each year, one for OWC, one for the Office for Multicultural Faculty Career (OMC). She maintains data on women faculty and URM data and residency Match, and works with hospital administration, Harvard Medical School and all CFDD offices to efficiently manage data on faculty and fellows. Sandra has completed Masters degrees in Speech Pathology, and Business. She has taught at graduate level, owned her own business (twice, both successfully), been a life-choice coach and mentor, co-founded a church, and been executive director of a Boston public/private non profit corporation.
