The Office for Women's Careers (OWC) facilitates the professional development and advancement of women faculty at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Directed by Carol C. Nadelson, MD, the OWC is a career resource for women faculty and one of three member offices within the Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (CFDD).
While the CFDD provides a comprehensive and coordinated approach to the recruitment, career advancement, and professional development of all BWH faculty and trainees, the Office for Women's Careers focuses on a specific constituency: women faculty. The other two CFDD member offices are the Office for Multicultural Faculty Careers (OMC) and the Office for Postdoctoral and Research Careers (OPRC).
The OWC's programs support, inform, and educate women faculty, provide individuals with career planning and advice, encourage departments to develop mentoring programs, and facilitate academic promotions. The OWC director meets regularly with department chairs and division chiefs to focus on the progress of women faculty and to encourage annual reviews of all faculty.
