The Department of Medicine (DOM) at Brigham and Women's Hospital is a recognized leader in patient care, teaching, and research at the local, national, and global level. It provides the highest quality of patient care, with particular emphasis on patient-centric services, patient safety, and specialized innovative programs across a broad range of settings.
Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by the fact that for the 17th consecutive year, BWH secured its place on the U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals, ranking tenth over more than 4,861 medical centers. Four of the Department of Medicine’s specialties placed in the top 10, with Kidney Disease taking the number 1 spot in the nation. Heart and Heart Surgery, Rheumatology, and Endocrinology all placed in the top ten. We ranked among the top 20 for Gastrointestinal Disorders, and Respiratory Disorders. The Department of Medicine also made the Honor Roll for Geriatric Care.
