The Cardiovascular Medicine Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital is a world leader in clinical and academic cardiology. For almost a century, our faculty has been delivering the most innovative and comprehensive care for patients with complex disorders of the heart, blood vessels, and circulation. Our cardiovascular services span the entire spectrum of patient care, ranging from cardiovascular disease prevention and detection to pharmacologic and interventional treatment. We work closely with the Divisions of Cardiac and Vascular Surgery in the evaluation and treatment of complex cardiovascular disorders.
Our new state-of-the art Carl J. and Ruth Shapiro Cardiovascular Center is the most advanced cardiovascular care center of its kind in the region, equipped with the latest technologies and spaces tailored around the needs of our cardiovascular patients and their families, including:
- A technologically advanced environment - The Center is equipped with robotics and sophisticated imaging equipment, and operating rooms that support interventional and surgical procedures – allowing surgeons, cardiologists and radiologists to perform multiple procedures simultaneously.
- Seamless, coordinated cardiovascular care – By locating the full range of cardiovascular services in a single building, the Center better supports “real- time” communications between an integrated team of specialists and staff that can address each patient’s needs in a comprehensive manner.
- Enhanced patient and family comfort and convenience – Each single-occupancy patient room has windows to allow extensive natural light, a mobile bed to permit caregivers greater access to patients, and the most up-to-date equipment. Family members enjoy a variety of waiting areas, resource centers, and education and consultation rooms to ensure their comfort and privacy.
- Accelerated translation of scientific research into proven clinical practice – The Center supports physician-scientists in their discovery of new treatments and provides a novel education and training center with unprecedented resources.
