Charlotte-Paige Rolle earned her BS from McGill University, Canada, in 2006 and her MD from the University of Chicago in 2010. A native of Nassau, Bahamas, her interest in global health has been greatly shaped by her country’s own public health crisis surrounding HIV/AIDS. While in high school she worked as a volunteer at a shelter for HIV-infected homeless people, and became interested in HIV medicine. As an undergraduate she continued to advocate for HIV education and prevention and led several groups to educate Chicago youth about HIV and other STDs. While in medical school she participated in research examining the treatment of patients experiencing difficulties with the HIV treatment regimens in order to improve access to care, quality of patient care, and medication adherence. She plans to dedicate her life to improving the standard of healthcare in the Caribbean with the skills she will gain from the Global Health Equity residency.
