Emily Wroe earned her BA from Dartmouth College in 2003 and her MD from Harvard Medical School in 2010. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in France and South Africa and discovered medicine through ski patrol and EMT training. Her interest in global health was inspired by a home visit in Nicaragua as part of a project working in health clinics. After graduating from college she spent a year in Tanzania working on clinical research with TB and HIV. While in medical school she worked with refugees through a program connecting students with refugee families, and at a mentorship program caring for the homeless in Boston. She also spent a year in Rwanda as a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellow, and returned there for half a year to work on a chronic care clinic and assist with planning the operations for the district hospital under construction. As a Global Health Equity resident she looks forward to honing her clinical skills alongside others equally committed to fighting for social justice and access to quality healthcare.
