Shelene Poetker, MD

Shelene Poetker, MD earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001, and her MD from Emory University School of Medicine in 2009. Upon graduating from Berkeley, she spent a year in Kampala, Uganda working with MCC, an international relief organization, and assisting a local doctor with mobile medical clinics. She also interned with the Roll Back Malaria Programme at WHO/Geneva, where she reviewed diagnostic technologies for malaria. As an NIH/FIC Clinical Research Scholar, she spent a year of research in Brazil where she studied neglected diseases such as HTLV-1.
