One of the first thing newcomers notice about Boston is that it is a walking city. Fenway Park to Boston Harbor takes less than an hour. Sure there's the subway (the "T") and buses, but with great architecture, historical landmarks, legendary restaurants and shopping along the way, the journey is just as interesting as the final destination. Chances are you'll be following in the footsteps of some famous historical figures.
Each season of the year in Boston offers more opportunities than you'll ever seem to find time for. Spring means flowering trees and walks in the park after a long winter. Summer means free concerts and movies at the Hatch Shell, lunch on Newbury Street or a weekend on the Cape. As the leaves start to turn and fall colors appear, head to Vermont for apple picking and cider or stay in Boston and enjoy a walk through the Commons or an authentic Italian dinner in the North End, ending with a legendary cannoli. You know winter's near when the ski racks find their way out of the basement and to the top of cars. Great winter sports are a car ride away. If you’re not the winter outdoor type, rest assured, you'll find plenty to do.
Boston offers Broadway theatres, local playhouses and comedy clubs, a great music scene with every flavor of music you can imagine. Legendary dining and museums are plentiful, sure to quench just about every passion. Not to forget our Champion sports teams!
Boston is also home to some of the most innovative healthcare institutions in the world, the most respected financial organizations, the most imaginative biotech companies and a thriving hospitality and tourism industry (plus many others). It's a great place for both families and for professional growth especially if you're looking to advance your skills by going back to school for a degree or by taking a class. There are more than a hundred institutions of higher learning in the greater Boston area.
If you can't tell, we love being in Boston and being part of the community. The cultural diversity from neighborhood to neighborhood is perhaps Boston's greatest treasure. Want to learn to Salsa?
